FInal Front Cover
These are the final versions of my magazine. I have taken into account the comments made by the audience and edited/improved aspects of my work according to the advice. I have also used codes and conventions used in existing magazines that I research in order to create a professionsal attractive front cover.
Final Contents Page
These are the final versions of my magazine. I have taken into account the comments made by the critical audience and adapted according to but with my own impact too. Previous codes and conventions from existing magazines also contributed to the success of my contents page.
Development Draft- Front Cover
This is my development draft of a front cover. I have included some codes and conventions from the magazines i analysed. This is what the front cover looked like before I received feedback. I like the effect of the glow around the images, it symbolises success and emphasises how good something is. I included a message from the editor, I personally feel as if the music bar blends into the blue so a change in colour would be effective. I personally feel as if there should be a page number '10' to show it being even and more realistic. The whole page doesnt include colorur as when I researched Sight and Sound magazine there whole contenst page was white and still looked effective as everything stood out.
Shannon Staines-
The use of the music bar to divide the picture from the editors message is effective however it is not visible enough. I think that you should use the colour yellow underneath it, by doing so the black notes would stand out and it would reflect the colour match.Kieran Cottingham- I like how the front page doesnt have a full block colour and there is some white as this makes it look less busy and more effective however the bar containging the words 'contents' should be moved up if another colour isn't going to be used for the background. The images are attractive and appealing to the audience by the use of shapes and the glow.
Nick Craig-
I like how the picture of the girl singing covers some of the contents text as it creates layers which can look effective. It is good how the main features of the magazine have the numbers on the pictures using the consistant placement of it being on the left. I think that the bar including 'contents' should be moved up as it is clear it's the masthead and creates that 'L' shape even if it is upside down.
Emily Pearson- There should be another page for there is a blank space underneath 8-9 which could easily fit '10' in. I like the consistency of the glow around the image an how even theglow matcnhes the colour match.
Development Draft-Front Cover
This is my development draft of a front cover, this is what it looked like before I received constructive positive and negative notes. My opinion towards this front cover is that there is too much blank space making it look less professional and too dull. What I do like is my music note in which I had to add another section of black and add 'free' text to it, I like this as when I previously looked at existing front covers they had one of these and it was effective that I could include the theme of a muisc note. I also liked the use of muisc notes as bullet points once again showing a musical institution.
Shannon Staines-
The use of having the school logo is affective as it indicates who the school is and helps match the colour however the main picture needs to preferabley refer to the music institution or to show the school itself. I like the sign that says 'free' as this sign needs to stand out to the reader which it sure does and effectivly using a music note. I personally feel that the Issue number is not in line enough and would look better underneath the date.Kieran Cottingham-
I think that the title name is very clever as it matches the theme of music and it includes the name of the school 'trinirty' it's also effective as it has been changed from 'Britains Got talent' to 'Trinitys Got Talent.' The use of a lure engages the reader for if they had no idea what was in the magazine then they wouldnt have any intention of reading it. I feel that the Trinity School badge should be much smaller, as a logo, preferabley in the right next to 'music edition' where there is a blank space.
Nick Craig- The mast head is very good with the use of colour match with the school. The constant use of yellow and blue creates consistancy and makes the page look less messy like a rainbow. The music bar at the bottom is very clever however I think that there should be a block colour underneath it, preferabley yellow so the black notes stand out.
Emily Pearson-The whole frontcover doesnt look professional as there is too much blank space making the page look dull and as if notalot of effort has been put in.
Contents Drafts
These are my drafts for my contents pages, I used my evaluation of existing contents pages to get an idea of layout designs. By doing so I was able to include similar codes and conventions that I thought were successful within them. A similar layout I used was, message from the editor by doing this it meant that the audience knew that the head mistress was friendly and always available. I included the backwards L shape layout of images which occured in an existing contents page, I used this for one of my ideas as it was spaced out and left room for a big image to fit inside the L.
Front Cover Drafts
These are my front cover drafts. I have used codes and conventions from the magazines contents i analysed. The codes and conventions that I used that were also in previous existing magazines are the colour match. Their is a constant colour match, of blue and yellow, two bright colours that would attract the auydiences attention. This colour match is used within the title, text and logo, this is to match the institution. I have also used the logo on two of them so that the audience are aware of what the school is and this also matches the colour. Some of the front covers I looked at, had a bar down the bottom with a block colour, I however used the idea of a bar but to match the music theme I used a music bar. I included a lure, giving the audience an insight into what this magazine will contain, this is to attract the audiences attention.

Research Premiliminary Task- Contents Page Analysis
These three following annotated images are analysis' of school magazine Contents Pages I have researched. The magazines used are professional magazines which can be found in shops accross the world, Sugar, Top of The Pops and Kerrang. Each contents page illustrated individual personalities, some more effective than others. Bellow are my analysed contents pages.
Through the analysis of these front covers I have gained a clearer idea of what I wish my contents pages to be like. From doing this I am now capable of creating Contents pages drafts, including similar conventions through the dennotations in the above front covers. By researching sugar magazine I have taken the idea of highlighting certain page titles in larger, brighter font so the readers know that these particular pages contain interesting content that would cater toi the veiwers needs. Kerrang gave me the idea of having one larger image that dominates the smaller images but doesn't completley upstage them. I'd do this so it would imply that that page especially is more important than the others and it would also stand out to the reader, making the page less dull.
