I feel that the development for the preliminary task went fairly well. It is clear to me that time management is a vital element to making my coursework successful and up to its highest standards. As the deadline came closer, I realised that I was pushed for time and behind schedule on completing the final product. There was a big lack of motivation on my behalf that lead me to slow paced working; this affected the look of my final product as the front cover was rushed. If I was to change anything it would be my front cover key image as I did not have an image that was suitable for my front page until the day before it was due. The other images were done beforehand which is why my contents page to me personally looks fairly professional and of a substantial standard. The key image on the front page however is fairly blurred and although the colour match was effective, the picture was just too much with it. Therefore if time management was constructively used then my front page would be better.
If my planning had been more structured and I had set a time schedule I would have been able to produce a better media product as I lacked urgency. My final production is based around one of the draft drawings of front cover and contents pages. However they are not identical, as the key image on the draft front cover is of a girl singing but my final production sees a boy playing the keyboard. However my contents pages fully sticks by the draft drawing which is why it was more successful as I spent more time on it and had a draft that I was certain on and had positivity about. A problem that I feel I need to overcome is my negativity and panic. When I become panicked I shut down and give up which is a bad habit to have as I need to use all the time I have possible. My negative thinking brings me down and makes me lose faith in my capabilities and my thoughts of my final production.
It is clear that development drafts are vitally essential for making my product a success as the feedback received is from those whom would be reading it therefore there advice cannot be wrong. There feedback did help me a lot as I managed to create a front cover and contents page that catered to the audiences needs and that is the most important thing.
One of the biggest contributed factors to the slow paced working is that this was the first year in which I have studied Media, therefore I was not familiar with the software as much as I would’ve liked to be, I also joined media late so everyone had a head start which made me lose confidence in myself due to knowing that I was the only person uncertain. However I did research tutorials on how to do certain techniques on these software’s which was broadening my knowledge along with this I was never afraid to ask for help. Due to researching and using the preliminary task to gain a wider knowledge of photo shop and In Design I am now confident with using them and feel that I need little help than I did before. When it comes to my final music magazine I will create a fixed timetable, highlighting when I should be doing it, therefore I will have to make good use of study periods and lesson time.
